Movie Review: Moonrise Kingdom

It's during this production that 12-year-old orphan and boy scout Sam (Jared Gilman) meets his soul mate, the equally precocious and alienated Suzy (Kara Hayward), who is playing one of Noah's creatures, a bird whose dark feathers and threatening beak is a reflection of her troubled character.

They become pen pals (Anderson excerpts their letters in a dazzlingly inventive montage), which leads to the pair plotting and embarking on a secret camping trip, an illicit adventure that stirs into action the scout master (Edward Norton), the local police captain (a daggy looking Bruce Willis) and Suzy's eccentric parents (Bill Murray and Frances McDormand), who live with their brood in a lighthouse.

Once they have found their slice of heaven, which they christen Moonrise Kingdom, these chaste lovers-on-the-run partake in the most Andersonian of activities, making a list of things they have brought with them.
