As the season changes and thoughts turn to ghosts, goblins and witches, Actors Circle will break out its own brand of magic just ahead of Halloween.
Opening tonight for a two-weekend run at Scranton's Providence Playhouse, 1256 Providence Road, the play "Bell, Book and Candle" tells the story of a witch who casts a love spell that backfires.
The play by John Van Druten originated in New York City in the 1950s, which also serves as the story's setting. In 1958, it was adapted into a film starring James Stewart and Kim Novak.
"For those that are familiar with the film, they're going to see some things they recognize, but then there's going to be some surprises for them as well," said director David Hunisch, of Clarks Summit.
Spell it out.
