Like an illicit affair between a flighty beauty and an earnest intellectual, the romantic comedy has long been intimately connected with the science of psychology.

Well, their secret is out and, true to character, they're saying it with sequins.

In the ultimate consummation, the queen of romcom, Jennifer Aniston, is to play one of the most influential psychology professors of our time, Ellen Langer. But before the nuptials there is, of course, the engagement, or more accurately this summer's surprise hit The Five-Year Engagement.

The film's heroine, played by Emily Blunt, is a psychology postgraduate who, in order
to take on a dream research post, decides to postpone her wedding.
