'Love Story' the musical

All Will Reynolds knew was the trademark line: “Love means never having to say you’re sorry.”

Yet when the New York actor was cast in the role of Oliver Barrett IV for the American premiere of “Love Story, the musical,” based on Erich Segal’s iconic novel and film of the same name, he was amazed to find they were absent from the script.

But in reading the classic 1970 tale of two college grads from separate worlds whose love is bigger than the obstacles they face, he was equally surprised — and happily so, he says — at just how much was pulled directly from the book.
