NBC Orders Romantic TV Comedy Based on Cyrano De Bergerac

NBC has purchased the script to potentially produce Cyrano, an hour-long romantic comedy TV series based on Edmond Rostand’s classic play Cyrano de Bergerac, according to Deadline.com. Written by Michael Oates Palmer, the series sets the beloved tale in the world of government and campaign politics. Palmer will executive produce alongside Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry. No filming or potential air dates have been set.

Cyrano is the story of an unattractive but talented campaign strategist who, after having career success of his own, returns to save the campaign of an attractive but inarticulate mayor. Using the Mayor to convey the campaign strategist’s great ideas, the team is successful until the men both fall in love with a journalist who is covering their campaign.
