The restored Bucks County Playhouse offers audiences a bon-bon for starters in its first mainstage production, Neil Simon's romantic comedy "Barefoot in the Park."
A few local theatergoers may remember the original play back when it was still titled "Nobody Loves Me" during its New Hope tryout before opening in 1963 to a spectacular run on Broadway.
The current playhouse management's decision to look to the theater's glory days is understandable, and "Barefoot in the Park" was a sure-fire hit — it ran more than 1,500 performances in the 1960s, was adapted into a movie and returned in 2006 to a shorter run on Broadway.
