
New Bedford —The 1920s was a pivotal time in movie history. It was a time when
silent movies were being replaced by “talkies,” making it imperative
that an actor had a nice voice to accompany his or her pretty face.
This transition provides for many comedic and ironic moments captured
in the play “Singin’ in the Rain,” and New Bedford Festival Theatre on
July 26-28 and Aug. 1-4 will bring this romantic comedy to life.
Executive Producer Armand Marchand said his cast and crew will stay
true to the MGM classic and they have all the right people to do it.
“We are living up the to the reputation of the classic movie musical,”
Marchand said. “People will be thrilled ... It is an exciting thing,
with many great numbers in the show.”
