Collette has been cast in Hector and the Search for Happiness to be directed by Peter Chelsom, according to industry website Deadline.
British actor Simon Pegg, from the movies Paul and Shaun of the Dead, will play the lead character Hector in the film adapted from Francis Lelord's novel of the same name.
Other cast members include Rosamund Pike, Stellan Skarsgrd, Jean Reno and Christopher Plummer.
